i found it ironic that the guy who watched downton abbey was called happy

Of all the characters, Mary is the one who undergoes the greatest metamorphosis over the course of the three series. When we first met her she appeared to be a hard-hearted, rather cold and ambitious elder daughter of an earl. Carr will be the show’s first recurring black cast member, playing a “charming and charismatic” young jazz singer, Jack Ross.

Gareth Neame said: “His [Carr’s character] addition will bring interesting twists to the drama which we can’t wait for viewers to see in [season four].”
